SAFE SITTER® INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS 

Safe Sitter® Instructors must meet the following qualifications: 

• Teach under the direction of a Safe Sitter® Site Coordinator at a Registered Safe Sitter® Teaching Site. 

• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. • Have 2 years of experience in health care, childcare (including parenting), or youth work. 

• Hold a current certification in a CPR class, such as Heartsaver® CPR/AED from the American Heart Association. 

• Enjoy teaching young teens and being a role model. 

• Commit to teaching at least one class per year. 

• Complete Safe Sitter® Instructor Training. 

• To teach CPR in a Safe Sitter® Class, you must either be current in a CPR Instructor course or use the Safe Sitter® CPR Video to teach that section of the class. 

Founded in 1980, Safe Sitter® is a national nonprofit organization devoted to preparing young teens with the life and safety skills they need when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.
